Community engagement is key to the success of the Kharkiv masterplan. In order to breathe life into our vision, architects, designers and urban professionals are invited to propose how they would revive Kharkiv’s historic and much loved Freedom Square, as well as sharing ideas on repurposing housing blocks for more energy efficient, safe and contemporary neighbourhoods.
The group continues to invite the citizens of Kharkiv to share their thoughts on their city’s masterplan. This will ensure that the reconstruction of the city addresses the needs of the people, is as effective as possible, while enduring for generations to come.
The Housing competition calls architects and designers to upgrade and retrofit existing housing by recycling rubble and reusing materials to create lively and energy efficient neighbourhoods. The competition will be launched on 22 May 2024. Our aim is to upgrade and retrofit existing housing, recycling rubble and reusing materials to create lively energy efficient neighbourhoods.
